On the slopes of Monte Petravella, with medieval streets and squares, the town looks out over Lake Trasimeno. Visitors can enjoy a meal in one of the many restaurants or for self-catering, Panicale’s weekly market takes place on Monday mornings.
More active guests will find plenty to do on Lake Trasimeno with a sailing school, water skiing, canoe and kayak hire all within 30 minutes. Alternatively, the Lamborghini Golf Club is only 11 minutes away. There are also hiking routes around the lake and in the surrounding hills.
The capital of Umbria, Perugia is 40 minutes away. It is well worth a visit, as is the famous town of Assisi (1 hour) birthplace of St Francis and a site of pilgrimage.
