Summary: Our first stay on the island turned out spectacular indeed and the beautiful country cottage we were renting was one of the highlights. Very well appointed indeed, perfectly fit even for a long-term stay, with more than everything needed and, best of all, both within easy walking distance to everything you long for in the village and the beautiful sandy beaches. For the more secluded spots in the near-by protection zone VENDICARI you might wish to take the bikes which are there for free, provided by the charming and incredibly hospitable owner. The house is perfect for a wide range of different holiday-people, fit for families with kids as well as sporty types or nature lovers. We mixed sea-front activities with culture trips in the splendid surrounding (for this a car is necessary!) and even in mid-summer we were lucky to be able to get by easily even without the air-conditioning fitted - thanks to thick walls and wooden shutters for all windows which keep out unwanted heat during the day. For recommendations on the numerous sights in south-east Sicily refer to up-to-date guide books - the rich history is looming behind every corner!
