A palm-lined country road leads you to the gravel parking area and the house. Ancient, gnarled olive trees, chairs under the thatched terrace roof, cosy seating by the natural pond, or amidst the lush palms, rural tranquillity. All of this inspires you to get some baguettes, olives and wine on the table, take a deep breath, and spend your day enjoying the sunshine and doing nothing at all. There's also plenty of space for sun loungers on the 7,000 m² estate. Or how about a glass of champagne in the circular waterfall whirlpool, even if something like that isn't normally part of your lifestyle? The curvy pool with a total length of 16 m is definitely the highlight of "Mirabó Ramonet", so much so that at first you won't even think of the sea. It's like a quiet, blue lagoon in the middle of nowhere; from above you can see how much wide open space there is between this rural idyll and the mountains in the distance.
Life inside a villa should of course match this outdoor feeling, and when a country house is advertised, it had better be a country house. You can expect lattice windows, wooden beams, and rustic, even antique furniture, a well-equipped kitchen with a pantry, where you can roll up your sleeves and get to work, even if that only means making a big salad for the BBQ, using fresh ingredients from the market. The fireplace in the dining area keeps you cosy on cooler evenings, the TV and reading corner is just right for four friends; but the story – or legend – behind the little niche altar in the wall is something you're going to have to find out for yourself once you're here. From here, the staircase leads up to the two air-conditioned bedrooms and the large bathroom with a bathtub and a shower – the smaller shower room is conveniently located downstairs. Some couples may re-live the feeling of their honeymoon behind the curtains of the romantic four-poster, even if the children should be right next door. If you prefer having your own mattress, the second bedroom is just right for you. The "modern" underfloor heating is not a traditional feature of a country house, but we are all too happy to forgive this breach of style...
Maybe you want to keep your feet warm by walking, which is not implausible, seeing as the hills around Santanyí, Es Carritxó, and S'Alqueria Blanca are reminiscent of Tuscany. A hike of about 2 hours will take you up to the monastery of Puig de Sant Salvador, a pilgrimage site near Felanitx, from which you can not only marvel at the beauty of your holiday destination, but also the see the Mallorcan cycling world champion Guillermo Mortimer's jersey, which is displayed there, curiously enough. Fortunately, rural Mallorca has preserved its authenticity, and you can still sit in cafes among locals or find a quiet corner for yourself. And the small coves towards Portopetro or the Caribbean-like natural beach Es Trenc will always have a place just for you (at least in the water), even at the height of the tourist season.
